Rainbow Bridge Memories

This page is dedicated in loving memory to the MNSR foster and adopted Shelties who are waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.

Rainbow Bridge Stories

Jake was released to a shelter by his breeder at 7 years of age. He found a wonderful forever home with a loving couple, feline siblings, and a Pomeranian brother, and was later joined by a Papillon buddy, too. Jake’s special chosen sleeping spot was in his mom & dad’s bookcase headboard. Every morning he would alert them when the kitties came in the room – time for breakfast! Jake enjoyed walks along the river, and greeting the elementary school children who stopped to say hi. Jake crossed the Rainbow Bridge on November 13th, 2019. He was such a sweet  boy. We want to thank you for letting him be a part of our lives.

Benson found a wonderful mom who was dedicated to helping him to regain his health. At his healthier weight, Benson loved to go for walks to meet his adoring public. He was a celebrity - people would ask to have their picture taken with him - and he especially enjoyed greeting little kids. He liked to play with his squeaky toys, and his favorites were the vegetables and farm animals, so his mom affectionately called him Farmer Ben. Benson and his mom completed several levels of obedience and therapy dog training and he earned his Canine Good Citizen certification. He was much loved at his doggie daycare, where he was Dog of the Month several times for his good report cards. Benson crossed the Rainbow Bridge on November 12th, 2019 and is so very missed by his loving mom.

We are deeply saddened that our foster Sheltie Jagger gained his angel wings on November 7th, 2019. Jagger came to MNSR at age 11 with an untreated hip injury, and was able to have surgery thanks to generous donors. His quality of life improved, though he had additional issues due to the patellas in his rear knees and spondylosis of the spine. His foster family loved him as their own, and we are grateful for the love and care they gave him to keep him comfortable. Our handsome, lovable, feisty little guy had an awesome day enjoying all the extra attention he received and was excited to go for a car ride and visit friends at the clinic.  We only had him in our home and hearts for a few years but he sure has left a big empty spot in both.

Our beloved dog, Zoey, died today. 11 years, 9 months old. The absolute heart of our 5 dog pack. Our three-legged wonder of a dog who "arfed" instead of barked. Who put her herding heritage to work by trying to herd the other dogs, or to grab your pants when you were leaving the house to try and make you stay. Our dog with a sense of humor. A total character! Zoey left the loving arms of her earthly family on November 6th, 2019 to the waiting arms of her mom in heaven.
