Rainbow Bridge Memories

This page is dedicated in loving memory to the MNSR foster and adopted Shelties who are waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.

Rainbow Bridge Stories

Molly found a very loving family who helped her to learn to trust and gain confidence in herself. It took a lot of time, patience, and consistency in their approach to help her come out of her shell. Molly grew to be a happy girl who loved to play outside and swim in the lake with her Yellow Lab brother. She would herd him back as he swam towards shore. She loved her little human siblings and would jump in their beds to lick their face to wake them up. When she started to have some issues with arthritis, her family began warm water physical therapy and shoulder massage to help alleviate discomfort and promote flexibility. Our beloved Molly passed away this summer. She was 13 and lived a great life bringing us much love and joy. We miss her everyday but are so thankful she was in our family and forever in our hearts.

Sylvia joined her forever family in 2008, and she and her mom started agility classes together soon after. Sylvia shone on the agility course, earning her Open Jumps with Weave Poles title. Once she retired, she earned her Canine Good Citizen and began visiting nursing home residents. She brought much joy, and quickly trained her favorite people to give her a cookie after she sat and shook hands with them. Everyone loved Sylvia’s visits. Although she was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2012, with the help of holistic medicine, Sylvia was able to conquer this challenge for over 5 years, and her family was grateful for every day they had with her. Sylvia crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 23rd, 2018 and is so very missed.

Daphne came into our lives almost 9 years ago shortly after we lost Fiona, our first rescue Sheltie. We always felt like she was sent by Fiona. Incredibly shy and overweight at first, she lost her extra pounds and decided she loved attention from the people she knew well, but always kept that Sheltie reserve with strangers. She was happiest hanging out at home on a dog bed, or going on "walkabout" in the backyard. She was a good sport about accompanying us on hiking trips and even ran the Helping Paws 5k. Her "magic leash of confidence" helped her to come out of her crate when away from home. Daphne crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 17th, 2018 after living with late-stage kidney disease for nearly 16 months. Run free, Daphne, and may there be plenty of bunnies for you to chase.

Lusa joined her forever family in 2008 and made herself at home with her very own Princess room for naps, and a Collie brother she tried to herd. She was the sweetest girl and earned herself sofa privileges, wanting to be close to mom as much as possible. Lusa crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 11th, 2018.
