Daphne came into our lives almost 9 years ago shortly after we lost Fiona, our first rescue Sheltie. We always felt like she was sent by Fiona. Incredibly shy and overweight at first, she lost her extra pounds and decided she loved attention from the people she knew well, but always kept that Sheltie reserve with strangers. She was happiest hanging out at home on a dog bed, or going on "walkabout" in the backyard. She was a good sport about accompanying us on hiking trips and even ran the Helping Paws 5k. Her "magic leash of confidence" helped her to come out of her crate when away from home. Daphne crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 17th, 2018 after living with late-stage kidney disease for nearly 16 months. Run free, Daphne, and may there be plenty of bunnies for you to chase.

Lusa joined her forever family in 2008 and made herself at home with her very own Princess room for naps, and a Collie brother she tried to herd. She was the sweetest girl and earned herself sofa privileges, wanting to be close to mom as much as possible. Lusa crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 11th, 2018. |
Deon joined our family in 2006 and was a loyal companion in our everyday life, our little shadow. He enjoyed a good bark and chase in the yard as neighborhood cars and people went by. Deon joined us most places we traveled and enjoyed summertime pontoon rides at the lake. Deon passed away peacefully on April 6th, 2018, lying outside soaking up the spring sun, where he loved to be. We were lucky to have him as a part of our family for the last 11 years.

Duffy came to MNSR in our early days with an injury to his leg. He found a wonderful forever home in which to recover from surgery, and over the years he mentored many MNSR foster Shelties, including Andy and Kit, who became permanent siblings. Duffy was a natural actor and performed in several plays with his mom, including two Shakespeare productions. His charming presence and intelligence are missed terribly. |
